Concluding Statement


Under the title of “The Role of Arab Female Media Professionals in Reinforcing the Patriotic Culture”, the Arab Female Media Professionals Center held the 7th Arab Female Media Professionals Conference under the patronage of HRH Princess Basma Bint Talal. HE Dr. Sabri Rbaihat; the Minister of Culture, opened the conference on the behalf of HRH during the period (08-10, July, 2009) in the Royal Cultural Center.

Several Arab States took part in the conference. These countries are Egypt, Sudan, Bahrain, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Syria, Lebanon, Palestine, Tunisia, Algeria, Libya and definitely Jordan. 14 worksheets; including patriotic experiences reflecting the female media professionals’ role in reinforcing the patriotic culture, were presented.


Recommendations:


1. Adopting the (Mosaic) strategy proposed by the Egyptian worksheet; so that the privacy of each state’s model can be connected under the Arab umbrella.
2. Maintaining the Arabic language as a basic component of the media strategy in order to reinforce the media culture.
3. Reinforcing the heritage image, maintaining each state’s heritage image and reinforcing the concept of citizenship.
4. Shedding the light upon the cultural reality within the Arab World and the reconciliation between the old and new by aligning the imported to the inherited.
5. Highlighting the Arab culture’s civilizational contribution to the human heritage.
6. Developing an atmosphere suitable for the Arab female media professionals to reinforce the patriotic culture and support their efforts to effectively participate in the community building process.

The Implementation Mechanism:


1. Working on elevating the professional level of the Arab female media professionals by suggesting intensive specialized energizing courses and providing them with the opportunity to take part in all international and Arab forums.
2. Encouraging a joint media production in order to reinforce the youth’s patriotic culture.
3. Paying attention to the alternative and modern media mechanisms to make use of the youthful experiences and allocate new and much more advanced space to such experiences.
4. Female media professionals work; each in her country, to provide the distinguished female media professionals with the opportunity to join the training courses and elevate the level of extrinsic incentives to support the Arab female media professionals by providing them with fund resources from the concerned governmental authorities and NGO’s.
5. A proposal by the Republic of Algeria to name the upcoming Arab Female Media Professionals Conference “Male- Female Media Professionals Equality between Reality & Aspirations”.
